Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company
www.tallgrassbakery.ca

Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company began as an organic bread co-op in Winnipegıs Wolseley neighbourhood nearly 20 years ago.

They wanted to start a business, making a living in their own neighbourhood, creating a direct urban/rural link supporting organic sustainable farming. By re-uniting the long separated process of daily milling of grains and baking of bread, they knew they could make healthy, wholesome and delicious food for their community.

So, out of a desire to create 'real' food and to address the agricultural crisis in Manitoba, the bakery began as a small response to a big problem. Together the owners of Tall Grass and a small Christian community in Winnipeg felt that if an organic-based bakery could happen anywhere, it could happen in Wolseley. And it did!

Today, Tall Grass spreads its goodness in the following ways:

- from its original location, newly renovated, at 859 Westminster in Wolseley; bakery, and onsite milling location

- at The Forks Market, Grass Roots Prairie Kitchen, a "Take Home Whole Foods" kitchen; deli and catering facility.  Also located at The Forks: organic Manitoba sunflower oil, fresh cold-pressed on-site.
