Centering Prayer
Welcome to Contemplative Outreach Manitoba
“Centering Prayer is a simple practice of being with God.
It is a way of reducing the hyperactivity of our lives and bringing us to a state of quiet. It helps us to let go of our thoughts and to center on God’s loving Presence within.
”
How to do Centering Prayer
Choose a simple word as a symbol of your intention to consent to God’s presence and action within.
Sit comfortably with your eyes closed. Settle briefly and then silently introduce your word as the symbol of your consent to God’s presence and action within.
When you become aware of thoughts, sensations, feelings simply return gently to your word.
At the end of a prayer period, remain in silence with eyes closed for a few moments.
Who is practicing this prayer?
There are online and in person centering prayer groups locally and internationally.
